CW&T Pen Type-C Review

I’ve tracked previous releases from Brooklyn-based company CW&T over the past couple of years (like Pen Type-A and Pen Type-B), but this is the first writing instrument produced by the art and design practice of Che-Wei Wang & Taylor Levy that I just had to have, their Pen Type-C model. As a pastor, I read a decent amount of books. Pen Type-C is a bookmark pen, and it’s fantastic.

The biggest part of the pen is made of sturdy titanium. It’s extremely light and thin, measuring at 3.5 millimeters thick. With the detachable, stainless-steel clip, it fits well in the pocket, but also nestles tightly in a good book. I’ve been using this petite pen over the past several weeks, and I find it extremely convenient to use.

It is also reliable. A bent, stainless-steel wire serves as a cap of sorts, flipping open and closed to expose the Pilot Coleto cartridge’s fine point (and to slightly lengthen the writing instrument). It’s an interesting choice, but I think it’s a solid one. The Coleto is a great, Japanese multi-pen. Pop off the plastic hook from the end of the refill, and it fits perfectly inside the Pen Type-C. This video will show you exactly how it works. More specifically, the Coleto is a Pilot Hi-Tec-C multi-pen. The Hi-Tec-C is one of the most popular gel pens out there. It comes in a multitude of colors with very fine points and is almost always reliable right out of the box.

I’m really loving the Pen Type-C from CW&T. You can grab it off their website for $50, which is a fair enough price for me. While you’re there, check out all their other fascinating products and designs. I’ll look forward to see what else comes down the pike from CW&T in the future.

(Disclaimer: I did receive one free Pen Type-C from the manufacturer. However, I had already purchased one before, and had used it for some time when I reached out about buying another. That’s when I offered to write a review, and they sent me one for free. In addition, this website uses referral links. Read my disclosure policy here for more info.)
